Looking to be an intern? OLATHE VISUAL ARTISTS  & The First Art Gallery of Olathe could be a perfect fit!

We would like to introduce ourselves, we are Olathe Visual Artists Association. Our mission is to expand the enjoyment of the fine arts within the community and encouraging the promotion of local artists. OVA is a nonprofit group which awards annual scholarships to college bound high school seniors majoring in the Arts, Engineering, or Architecture. Olathe Visual Artists also sponsors unpaid internships for community service credit for high school students. Students interested in interning with our organization will be supervised by an Olathe Visual Artist member and will be spending their internship time in the First Art Gallery of Olathe. Students will learn aspects of how a small retail art gallery operates and will help with art classes and other events. The Olathe Visual Artists sponsors adult and children’s art classes, hosts Art Fairs, and other community events. Students interested in an internship should contact us with information below for an application.

Tylier

I have been interning with the Olathe Visual Artists at the First Art Gallery of Olathe for 3 years. I have learned how a gallery operates, have helped with many art classes and events. I am off to college now but I will never forget my internship.  I learned so much and had a lot of fun, it was awesome.

Grace

My name is Grace, and I got the chance to work as an intern at The First Art Gallery of Olathe over the past semester. This experience has been one of growth, learning, and much more. During my time here, I was able to do and learn so much, including how to create a website, track sales, teach classes, and even host my own art night. This internship was unique in the way that everyday was a little bit different, and I got to use my skills in so many different ways. Through the OVA I was also able to apply for the OVA scholarship, which is a great incentive for all students hoping to continue onto college in the fields of art, architecture, engineering, and music. These experiences created a well rounded internship that is sure to help me in the future. I am thankful for the artists and teachers I was able to work with during my time here, and hope that other students will get the same opportunity that I did.
